The Xr-41 filled the top of Class B at Tallinn 2025. One year on, a single Xr-41 — WB IX — carried the design into a new-generation field at Sorrento. What does one flag-bearer prove?

WB IX at Sorrento — third against the next drawing-board generation
On the published record, WB IX (ITA-41005, X-Yachts Xr-41) took 3rd in Class B at the 2026 ORC World Championship — 26 points behind KATARA’s Pg-390 (18) and Technonicol’s X-41 Mod (23). One year after the design’s Tallinn sweep, its lone representative was still on the podium; the boats ahead of it are the next generation. The boat view shows what the design brought: −31.9 s/nm median against ORC prediction across her comparison records.

2025’s races rewarded exactly what the Xr-41s brought
The race-by-race conditions surface for Tallinn 2025 — the frame’s visible rows read 6–10 kt offshore — the profile in which deep-hull efficiency took 11 of 15 top-3 slots by the versioned Study’s count: the context for the design’s original sweep, and the benchmark’s reminder that a design’s record is always a design-times-conditions record.

Five hulls, one drawing board, two families
Across the five Xr-41s in these two championships, the classification reads each hull’s certificate, not the brochure: most classify into one family; the Tallinn winner sits deep in another; and WB IX’s own label differs between the published Sorrento cut and the current fleet view — the taxonomy is vintage-aware, and history keeps its own words. That within-design spread is not a flaw in the design; it is the reason designs are benchmarked hull by hull, cut by cut.

· Points and placings are from the published FleetEdge Sorrento page; WB IX’s −31.9 s/nm median is from the captured boat view (capture dated in the caption).
· Only one Xr-41 raced Sorrento 2026 — no like-for-like design comparison at that event is claimed; the cross-event read (Tallinn sweep → Sorrento podium) is stated as record, not inference.
· Family assignments reflect each cut’s published view; the physics release has shipped and the published view now carries it — the class results do not move.
· Hull-efficiency values are not quoted in this page’s text (they move with the fleet’s published view) — captured App frames show the App’s live readouts.

This is the read Design Benchmarks opens for a proven design meeting a new field — here, WB IX, the lone Xr-41 at Sorrento one year after the design filled the top of Class B at Tallinn. Where it placed
